The Resurrection of Home — A Journey

there’s this land
of the inverted—
apricot hues
pinched off flowers
with paper-thin skins
dipping
its green limbs
in cold whitewashed skies

branching across a cemetery
of stone-cold fruits,
ripped in halves
bearing centipedes,
and dragons that take shifts to
deliver slowly-cooked thoughts

home

home, a memory away,
resurrected every time
a parachute of thoughts
land on its buttery palms
balanced
on mnemonic tentacles

this land
of the subverted— 
cherry swirls
pocketing every thought
in its duct-tape tunnels
where no one would believe
anything outside of it, existed

Chayanika Priyam is a PhD candidate at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. It is only when she has to start writing her thesis, do poems flow from the keys of her keyboards, unceasingly.
